What the Google Workspace integration does

RollCall supports SAML 2.0 single sign-on with Google Workspace, so staff and parents can sign in with their existing school Google accounts. RollCall acts as the service provider and delegates authentication to Google Workspace, removing separate passwords from RollCall and simplifying secure access.

Data flow

One-way sync

Google Workspace handles authentication via SAML 2.0. RollCall acts as the service provider and delegates sign-in to Google Workspace, so no passwords are stored in RollCall.

What you need

  • A Google Workspace tenant with administrator access
  • A RollCall account with SSO enabled

Setup

  1. Create a SAML app in Google Workspace

In the Google Admin console, create a custom SAML app for RollCall. Add RollCall's ACS (Assertion Consumer Service) URL as the reply URL so Google Workspace knows where to send the SAML response.

  2. Share the SAML metadata with RollCall

Provide the IdP metadata (sign-in URL and certificate) to RollCall and choose who can use SSO: administrators, parents/guardians, or both.

  3. Test and roll out

Confirm a test sign-in works, then communicate the single sign-on option to your users.
